Thematic Bible

For of a truth, in this city, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the gentiles and people of Israel, were assembled together against thy holy servant Jesus whom thou hast anointed,

I charge you before the God who gives life to all [creatures], and Christ Jesus who made the good profession before Pontius Pilate,

The God of Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied before Pilate when he decided to release him;

THEN they led him from Caiaphas to the Praetorium. And it was morning; and they entered not into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the passover. Jesus answered, As you say, I am a king. For this was I born, and for this I came into the world, that I should testify to the truth; every one who is of the truth hears my voice. Pilate said to him, What is truth? And having said this he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, I find no fault in him. But you have a custom that I should release one to you at the passover; are you willing, therefore, that I should release to you the king of the Jews? Then all cried again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. But Barabbas was a robber.

and [although] they found no cause of death [in him], they requested of Pilate that he might be destroyed;
