On the fourth day they got up early in the morning, and the Levite prepared to leave; but the girl’s father said to his son-in-law, “Strengthen yourself with a piece of bread, and afterward go your way.”

Woe to you, O land, when your king is a child or a servant and when your officials feast in the morning! Happy (fortunate and to be envied) are you, O land, when your king is a free man and of noble birth and character and when your officials feast at the proper time -- "for strength and not for drunkenness!


and Jacob’s well was there. So Jesus, tired as He was from His journey, sat down by the well. It was then about the sixth hour (noon).

When Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the steward of his house, “Bring the men into the house, and kill an animal and make [a meal] ready; for the men will dine with me at noon.”

For His disciples had gone off into the city to buy food—


He made the camels kneel down outside the city by the well of water at the time of the evening when women go out to draw water.

But when food was set before him, he said, “I will not eat until I have stated my business.” And Laban said, “Speak on.”


Now Joseph’s brothers were seated [by the steward] before him [in the order of their birth]—the firstborn according to his birthright and the youngest according to his youth; and the men looked at one another in astonishment [because so much was known about them].

Jacob said to his father, “I am Esau your firstborn; I have done what you told me to do. Now please, sit up and eat some of my game, so that you may bless me.”


Jesus answered, “He who has dipped his hand in the bowl with Me [as a pretense of friendship] will betray Me.




Those who lie on [luxurious] beds of ivory
And lounge around out on their couches,
And eat lambs from the flock
And calves from the midst of the stall,
