He was slaying men from the beginning, and stood not in the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he would speak a lie, he speaks of his own things; for he is a liar, and the father of him. And because I say the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convicts me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me. He being of God hears the words of God: therefore ye hear not, for ye are not of God.

Therefore they could not believe, for Esaias said again, He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart: lest they see with the eyes, and understand with the heart, and should turn back, and I should heal them. These said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him. Yet nevertheless also many of the rulers believed in him; but on account of the Pharisees they did not acknowledge, lest they should be excluded from the synagogue: For they loved the honour of men more than the honour of God.
