And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon. And I will turn my hand against Ekron, and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, says lord LORD.

For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation. They shall drive out Ashdod at noonday, and Ekron shall be rooted up.

Baldness has come upon Gaza. Ashkelon is brought to naught, the remnant of their valley. How long will thou cut thyself?

How can thou be quiet, since LORD has given thee a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea-shore. He has appointed it there.

And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah. They shall feed [their flocks] upon it. In the houses of Ashkelon they shall lay down in the evening. For LORD their God will visit them, and bring back their captivity.

So are the paths of all who forget God. And the hope of the profane man shall perish,




But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall have no way to flee. And their hope shall be the giving up of the spirit.

For what is the hope of the profane, though he gets him gain, when God takes away his soul?

Thus says lord LORD: Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with spite of soul to destroy with perpetual enmity, therefore thus says lord LORD: Behold, I will stretch out my hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethites, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast. And I will execute great vengeance upon them with wrathful rebukes. And they shall know that I am LORD when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.

And Tyre built herself a stronghold, and heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the mire of the streets.

All the inhabitants of the isles are astonished at thee, and their kings are horribly afraid; they are troubled in their countenance. The merchants among the peoples hiss at thee.
