The voice of him that cries in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places made plain: And the glory of the LORD shall be manifested, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.

Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. Speak ye according to the heart of Jerusalem and cry unto her that her time is now fulfilled that her iniquity is pardoned; for she has received of the LORD's hand double for all her sins.

And I am very sore displeased with the Gentiles that are at ease; for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction. Therefore thus hath the LORD said, I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies; my house shall be built in her, saith the LORD of the hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem. And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias, for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb. And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the rebellious to the prudence of the just, to make ready a prepared people for the Lord. And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his words and wondered in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. Then Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the clarity of the Lord shone round about them, and they feared greatly. But the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you a gospel of great joy, which shall be to all the people.read more.

And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye, for I know that ye seek Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here, for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goes before you into Galilee; there ye shall see him; behold, I have told you.

And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting to the right hand side, covered in a long white garment; and they were frightened. But he said unto them, Do not be frightened; Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified; he is risen; he is not here; behold the place where they laid him. But go tell his disciples and Peter that he goes before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him as he said unto you.

And it came to pass as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments; and as they were afraid and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen; remember how he spoke unto you when he was yet in Galilee,read more.
saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

Then the disciples went away again unto their own. But Mary stood outside near the sepulchre weeping, and as she wept, she stooped down and looked into the sepulchre and saw two angels in white sitting, the one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been placed.read more.
And they said unto her, Woman, why dost thou weep? She said unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him. And when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there and did not know that it was Jesus.

There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the company called the Italian, a devout man and one that feared God with all his house, who gave many alms to the people and prayed to God always.
