And one of them that were with Jesus, stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and striking at the high priest's servant took off his ear. Then said Jesus to him, Put up thy sword into it's place; for they that take the sword shall perish by the sword:

And one of those that were present, drawing a sword, struck at the high priest's servant, and took off his ear.

But when they that were about Him saw what would follow, they said to Him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword? And one of them smote the high priest's servant and cut off his right ear: but Jesus said, Suffer ye thus far; and He touched his ear and healed him.

Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus. But Jesus said to Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

And He arose and went from thence to the borders of Tyre and Sidon; and going into a house He would have had no body know it, but He could not be concealed: for a woman,

But He passed through the midst of them, and went away.

as deceivers, and yet true; as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live; as chastened, but not put to death;

Women received their dead raised to life again; and others were tortured to death, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. And others had the trial of mockings and scourgings, and of bonds too and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain by the sword: they went about in sheep-skins, and goat-skins, being destitute, afflicted,read more.
distressed, (of whom the world was not worthy) wandering in deserts, and mountains, and dens, and caves of the earth. And these all, though they obtained an honorable testimony by faith, yet received not the promise;

And in these days came down prophets from Jerusalem to Antioch.

Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers, as Barnabas, and Simeon called Niger, and Lucius the Cyrenean, and Manaen who had been educated with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul;

And God hath placed you accordingly in the church, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miraculous powers, then gifts of healing, helps, governments, and various kinds of tongues.

And let but two or three of the prophets speak, and the others judge.
