19 Bible Verses about Apostles, During Jesus Earthly Ministry

And He appointed the Twelve, to whom He gave the title, apostles, to be with Him, to send them forth to preach,

Six days after this, Jesus took Peter and James and his brother John, and led them up on a high mountain, by themselves.

The apostles returned and met Jesus and reported to Him everything, how many things they had done and taught. And He said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and rest a little while." For there was an endless stream of people coming and going, and they had no time even to eat. So they got off in their boat to be by themselves in a quiet place.

Now the apostles returned and told Jesus all that they had done. Then He took them and privately retired to a town called Bethsaida.

Then He instructed them for the first time that the Son of Man had to endure great suffering and be disowned by the elders and the high priests and the scribes, and be killed but rise again after three days.

Just at that moment the disciples came up and asked Jesus, "Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" And He called a little child to Him, and had him stand in the midst of them, and said: "I solemnly say to you, unless you turn and become like little children, you can never get into the kingdom of heaven at all.read more.
So then, whoever becomes as lowly as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven,

When He was by Himself, those who stayed about Him with the Twelve began to ask Him about the stories. Then He said to them, "To you the secret of the kingdom of God has been entrusted, but to those who are on the outside everything is presented in stories, so that 'They may look and look and yet not see, And listen and listen and yet not understand, Lest, perchance, they should turn and be forgiven.'"

up to the day when through the Holy Spirit He gave the apostles whom He had chosen their orders, and then was taken up to heaven.

Then He called the Twelve together and gave them power and authority over all the demons, and to cure diseases, and then He sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to cure the sick. So He said to them, "Take nothing with you for your journey, no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, nor even have two shirts.read more.
Into whatever house you go, stay there and continue to go out from it as headquarters. And when you leave that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a protest against all the people who do not welcome you." And so they set out and went from village to village, telling the good news and curing people everywhere.

Jesus sent these twelve out, after giving them the following charge: "Do not go to the heathen, or to any Samaritan town, but rather to the lost sheep of Israel's house. And as you go continue to preach, 'The kingdom of heaven is near.'read more.
Keep on curing the sick, raising the dead, healing lepers, and driving out demons. You received and gave no pay; you must give and take none. Do not accept gold or silver or even copper money for your purse, and do not take a bag for your journey, nor two shirts, nor any shoes, nor a staff, for the workman deserves his support.

And He called the Twelve to Him and sent them out two by two, and gave them power over the foul spirits. He ordered them not to take anything for the journey except a staff, no bread, no bag, no money in the purse; they were to go with plain sandals on their feet and not to wear two shirts.read more.
And He continued to say to them, "Whenever you put up at a house, stay there until you leave that place. And if any place refuses to welcome you or to listen to you, when you leave there shake off the very dust from the soles of your feet as a warning to them." So they went out and preached that men should repent, and drove out many demons, and cured many sick people by anointing them with oil.

And He appointed the Twelve, to whom He gave the title, apostles, to be with Him, to send them forth to preach, and to have the right to drive out the demons.

but you are going to receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you must be witnesses for me in Jerusalem and all over Judea and Samaria, and to the very ends of the earth."

We are witnesses of everything that He did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. Yet they murdered Him by hanging Him upon a tree.

Then Jesus came up to them, and said, "Full authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptize them into the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to practice all the commands that I have given you. And I myself will surely be with you all the days, down to the very close of an age."

Then He said to them, "You must go all over the world and preach the good news to all the creation.

and said to them, "The Scriptures said that the Christ should suffer as He has suffered, should rise from the dead on the third day, and that in His name repentance as the condition for the forgiveness of sins should be preached to all the nations. Beginning at Jerusalem you are to continue as witnesses to these things.read more.
And I will send down upon you what my Father has promised. But you, on your part, must stay right here in the city until you are clothed with power from on high."

Just as you have sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world, too.

Jesus again said to them, "Peace be with you! Just as my Father has sent me forth, so I am now sending you."
