And they send to Him some of the pharisees, and of the Herodians to insnare Him in his discourse: and these, when they came, said to Him, Master, we know that thou art a man of truth, and carest for no man; for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to pay tribute to Cesar, or not? should we give, or should we not give? But He knew their hypocrisy, and said to them, Why do ye tempt me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.read more.
So they brought one: and He saith to them, Whose is this image and inscription? And they said Cesar's. And Jesus answered and said unto them, Render then unto Cesar the things that are Cesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at Him.
And they come again to Jerusalem, and as He was walking in the temple, the chief priests, and scribes, and elders come to Him, and ask Him, By what authority dost thou these things, and who gave thee this authority, to do thus? And Peter remembring the tree, saith unto Him, Master, behold, the fig-tree which thou cursedst, is withered. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God: for verily I tell you, that whosoever shall say to this mountain, "Be thou removed and cast into the sea," and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that what he saith shall be done, he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye ask in prayer, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. But when ye pray, forgive, if ye have any thing against any one, that your heavenly Father may also forgive you your trespasses:
And we have seen, and do testify, that the Father hath sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
For in the first place I delivered to you, that which I also received, to wit, that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures:
As Christ also once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust (that He might introduce us to God) being indeed put to death in the flesh, but raised to life by the Spirit:
even as Christ hath loved us, and given Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odor of sweet perfume.
but if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have communion with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, "Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is the one Lord, and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength:" this is the first or chief commandment,read more.
and the second is like it, even this, "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself:" there is no other commandment greater than these. And the scribe said unto Him, Truly, Master, thou hast spoke exceeding well; for there is one God, and there is no other beside Him. And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole-burnt-offerings and sacrifices. And Jesus seeing that he answered discreetly, said to him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no one dared any more to put questions to Him.
And He began to speak unto them in parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and made a fence about it, and digged a place for the wine-fat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and travelled abroad. And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that he might receive from them of the fruit of the vineyard: and they took him and beat him, and sent him away empty.read more.
And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they threw stones, and wounded him on the head, and sent him away shamefully used. And again, he sent another; and him they killed: and many others, beating some, and killing others. Having yet therefore one Son, his beloved, he sent him also at last unto them, saying, they will reverence my Son. But the husbandmen said to one another, this is the heir, Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours. And they took him, and killed Him too, casting him out of the vineyard. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy those husbandmen, and will let the vineyard to others. And have ye not read this scripture, "The stone, which the builders refused, is become the head of the corner: this was from the Lord, and it is marvellous in our eyes." And they sought to lay hands on Him, but they were afraid of the people; (for they knew that He spake the parable against them) and they left Him, and went away.
He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not, is already condemned; because he hath not believed on the name of the only-begotten Son of God.
for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God;
in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the remission of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
This however he spake not of himself, but being high-priest at that time he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation: and not for the Jewish nation only, but that he might also gather together the children of God that are dispersed.
For the love of Christ constraineth us, being fully persuaded of this, that if One died for all, then were all dead. And He died for all, that those who live might no longer live to themselves, but to Him who died for them and rose again.
Even as the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
But God recommendeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood; and without shedding of blood there is no remission.
and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace by the blood of his cross; by Him only, whether they be things on earth, or things in heaven.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave up Himself for it: to sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that He might prepare it for Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing: but that it should be holy and unblameable.
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him freely give us all things? Who shall lay any accusation against the elect of God? will God, who justifieth us? Who is he that condemneth? Is it Christ, that died for us? yea rather, that is risen again, who is also at the right hand of God, and who maketh intercession for us?read more.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall affliction, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
But Christ being come an high-priest of the good things to come, hath entered once for all into the holy places, through a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is, not of this building,

And I account the sufferings of this present time not worthy to be set against the glory that shall be revealed to us. knowing that ye were redeemed from your vain conversation learned by tradition from your fathers, not with corruptible things, as silver and gold; but with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
In this we know his love, that He laid down his life for us: and we should be ready to lay down our lives for the brethren.
For when we were yet without strength, Christ died in due season for the ungodly.
For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus: who gave himself a ransom for all, a testimony to be published in due time,
how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself spotless to God, purify your conscience from dead works, that ye may serve the living God?
And when ye fast, be not, like the hypocrites, of a gloomy countenance; for they disfigure their faces, that they may be observed by men to fast: I tell you, they have indeed their reward.
