And Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that would come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written concerning Babylon. And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When thou come to Babylon, then see that thou read all these words. And say, O LORD, thou have spoken concerning this place, to cut it off, that none shall dwell therein, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate forever.read more.
And it shall be, when thou have made an end of reading this book, that thou shall bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of the Euphrates. And thou shall say, Thus Babylon shall sink, and shall not rise again because of the evil that I will bring upon her, and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.

And it shall come to pass in the day that LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy trouble, and from the hard service in which thou were made to serve, that thou shall take up this parable against the king of Babylon, and say, How has the oppressor ceased, the golden city ceased!

Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon. Sit on the ground without a throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans. For thou shall no more be called tender and delicate. Take the millstones, and grind meal. Remove thy veil, strip off the train, uncover the leg, pass through the rivers.

In that night Belshazzar the Chaldean King was slain. And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old.

The word that LORD spoke concerning Babylon, concerning the land of the Chaldeans, by Jeremiah the prophet. Declare ye among the nations and publish, and set up a standard, publish, and conceal not. Say, Babylon is taken. Bel is put to shame. Merodach is dismayed. Her images are put to shame; her idols are dismayed. For out of the north there comes up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein. They are fled. They are gone, both man and beast.
