22 Bible Verses about Becoming More Like Christ

Stop living in accordance with the customs of this world, but by the new ideals that mold your minds continue to transform yourselves, so as to find and follow God's will; that is, what is good, well-pleasing to Him, and perfect.
Yes, we know that all things go on working together for the good of those who keep on loving God, who are called in accordance with God's purpose.
But someone will ask, "How can the dead rise? With what kind of body do they come back?" You foolish man! the seed that you sow never comes to life unless it dies first; and what you sow does not have the body that it is going to have, but is a naked grain, of wheat (it may be) or something else;read more.
but God gives it just the body He sees fit, even each kind of seed its own body. Every kind of flesh is different. One kind belongs to men, another to cattle, another to birds, another to fish. There are heavenly bodies, and earthly bodies, but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is of one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is of another. One kind of splendor belongs to the sun, another to the moon, and another to the stars; yes, one star differs from another in splendor. It is just like this with the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in decay, it is raised without decay; it is sown in humiliation, it is raised in splendor; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in strength; it is sown a physical body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a physical body, there is a spiritual body too. This is the way the Scripture puts it too, "The first man Adam became a living creature." The last Adam has become a life-giving Spirit. But it is not the spiritual that comes first; it is the physical, and then the spiritual. The first man was made of the dust of the earth; the second Man is from heaven. Now those who are made of the dust are just like him who was first made of dust, and those who are heavenly are like Him who is from heaven, and as we have reflected the likeness of him who was made of dust, let us also reflect the likeness of the Man from heaven. But this I tell you, brothers: Our physical bodies cannot take part in the kingdom of God; what is decaying will never take part in what is immortal. Let me tell you a secret. We shall not all fall asleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the sound of the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised with bodies not subject to decay, and we shall be changed. For this decaying part of us must put on the body that can never decay, and this part once capable of dying must put on the body that can never die. And when this part once capable of dying puts on the body that can never die, then what the Scripture says will come true, "Death has been swallowed up in victory. O Death, where is your victory now? O Death, where is your sting?" Now sin gives death its sting, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. So, my dear brothers, continue to be firm, incapable of being moved, always letting the cup run over in the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the service of the Lord is never thrown away.
For if anybody is in union with Christ, he is the work of a new creation; the old condition has passed away, a new condition has come.
No temptation has taken hold of you but what is common to human nature. And God is to be trusted not to let you be tempted beyond your strength, but when temptation comes, to make a way out of it, so that you can bear up under it.
I have told you these things, that you through union with me may have peace. In the world you have trouble, but be courageous! I have conquered the world."
Whoever claims, "I am always in union with Him," ought to live as He lived.
I beg you, therefore, brothers, through these mercies God has shown you, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies as a living sacrifice, devoted and well-pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service. Stop living in accordance with the customs of this world, but by the new ideals that mold your minds continue to transform yourselves, so as to find and follow God's will; that is, what is good, well-pleasing to Him, and perfect.
So you too must consider yourselves as having ended your relation to sin but living in unbroken relation to God.
You must follow my example, just as I myself am following Christ's.
For He has made us what we are, because He has created us through our union with Christ Jesus for doing good deeds which He beforehand planned for us to do.
to lay aside, with your former way of living, your old self which is on the way to destruction in accordance with its deceptive impulses;
to lay aside, with your former way of living, your old self which is on the way to destruction in accordance with its deceptive impulses; and to have a new attitude of mind and put on the new self which has been created in the likeness of God, which fruits in right and holy living inspired by the truth.
So you must keep on following God's example, as dearly loved children of His, and practice living in love, just as Christ loved you too and gave Himself for you as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
I now leave you the blessing of peace, I give you the blessing of my own peace. I myself do not give it in the way the world gives it. Stop letting your hearts be troubled or timid.
Brothers, I do not think that I have captured it yet, but here is my one aspiration, so forgetting what is behind me and reaching out for what is ahead of me, I am pressing onward toward the goal, to win the prize to which God through Jesus Christ is calling us upward.
Dearly beloved, we are now God's children, but what we are going to be has not been unveiled. We know that if it is unveiled, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in him tries to make himself as pure as He is.
Now the Lord means the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And all of us, with faces uncovered, because we continue to reflect like mirrors the splendor of the Lord, are being transformed into likeness to Him, from one degree of splendor to another, since it comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
Now about eight days after Jesus said this, He took Peter, John, and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And while He was praying, the look on His face changed, and His clothes turned dazzling white. And two men were talking with Him. They were Moses and Elijah, read more.
who appeared in splendor and were speaking of His departure which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. Now Peter and his companions had been overcome by sleep, but all at once they became wide awake and saw His splendor and the two men who were standing with Him.
And in their presence His appearance was changed and His face shone like the sun, and His clothes turned as white as light. Then Moses and Elijah appeared to them and kept talking with Him.
