doing nothing through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind, each esteeming others better than himself;

For, as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is the Christ; for, indeed, in one Spirit were we all immersed into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all made to drink of one Spirit. If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body"; it is not, therefore, not of the body. And, if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body"; it is not, therefore, not of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole body were hearing, where were the smelling? But, as it is, God did set the members, each one of them in the body, even as He willed. And, if they were all one member, where were the body? But now they are many members, but one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you"; nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you." But much more the members of the body which seem to be more feeble, are necessary; and those members which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness; but our comely parts have no need. But God attempered the body, giving the more abundant honor to that which lacked; that there might be no schism in the body, but that the members might have the same care, one for another. And whether one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or one is honored, all the members rejoice with it. Now ye are Christ's body, and severally members thereof. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But desire earnestly the greater gifts; and a still more excellent way I show you.
For I say, through the grace that was given to me, to every one among you, not to think of himself more highly than he night to think, but so to think as to think soberly, according as God divided to each one a measure of faith. For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members have not the same office; so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and severally members one of another.read more.
And, having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us; whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith; or ministry, let us labor in the ministry; or he that teaches, in teaching; or he that exhorts, in his exhortation; he that imparts, let him do it with liberality; he that presides, with diligence; he that shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
