These all died according to faith, not having obtained the promises, but having seen them from afar, and having greeted them, and having confessed that they were strangers and sojourners on the earth.
Beloved, I beseech you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly desires, which, indeed, war against the soul;

By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise;
Then Peter, answering, said to Him, "Behold, we left all, and followed Thee; what, then, shall we have?"
But now they long for a better country, that is, a heavenly one; wherefore, God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for He prepared for them a city.
For our citizenship is in Heaven, whence also we are waiting for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that every one who believes on Him should not perish, but have eternal life;
For by grace ye have been saved through faith: and this, not of yourselves, it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any one should boast;
for he was waiting for the city which has the foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
And, if ye call on Him as Father, Who, without respect of persons, judgeth according to each one's work, pass the time of your sojourning in fear;
(of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves, and the holes of the earth.
to walk worthily of the Lord to all pleasing, bearing fruit in every good work, and growing in the knowledge of God;
respecting righteousness, because I go to the Father, and ye no longer behold Me;
and I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, nor shall any one snatch them out of My hand.
"For, if ye forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you; but, if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
