6 Bible Verses about Bitter Herbs

For the lips of the strange woman will drip honey, and smoother than oil is her mouth. But her end is bitter as the wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

You know my reproach, my shame and my disgrace. {Fully known} to you are all my adversaries. Reproach has broken my heart and I am sick. And I hoped for sympathy, but there was none, and for comforters, but I found none. They also gave me gall for food, and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

He shot {the arrows of his quiver} into my kidneys. I have become a laughingstock for all the people, their mocking song all day long. He has filled me with bitterness, he has drenched me [with] wormwood.
