The overseer therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate in habits, sound in mind, orderly, hospitable, qualified to teach;

A blameless man will be the husband of one wife. He will have children that believe and who are not accused of violence and disobedience. The overseer must be blameless as God's steward. He must not be self-willed, not prone to anger, not a brawler, and not violent (quarrelsome) (pugnacious), not greedy of dishonest gain.

You and God are witnesses, how devoutly and righteously, without blame, we behaved toward you who believe!

Better a poor man who walks with integrity than a fool whose lips are perverse.

Or did I commit a sin in abasing myself that you might be exalted, because I preached to you the good news of God without charge? I robbed other congregations, taking pay from them that I might minister to you. When I was present with you and was in want, I was not a burden on any man.
