But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind;

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he anointed me to preach glad tidings to the poor; he hath sent me to proclaim deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty the oppressed,

In that hour he cured many of diseases, and plagues, and evil spirits, and to many who were blind he gave sight. And they come to Jericho; and as he was going out of Jericho with his disciples and a great multitude, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the wayside. And hearing that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out and say, Son of David, Jesus, have pity on me!
