Bread, As Food

wine that makes man’s heart glad—
making his face shine with oil—
and bread that sustains man’s heart.
For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land with streams of water, springs, and deep water sources, flowing in both valleys and hills; a land of wheat, barley, vines, figs, and pomegranates; a land of olive oil and honey; a land where you will eat food without shortage, where you will lack nothing; a land whose rocks are iron and from whose hills you will mine copper.
He said to the men of Succoth, “Please give some loaves of bread to the people who are following me, because they are exhausted, for I am pursuing Zebah and Zalmunna, the kings of Midian.” But the princes of Succoth asked, “Are Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hands that we should give bread to your army?”
At mealtime Boaz told her, “Come over here and have some bread and dip it in the vinegar sauce.” So she sat beside the harvesters, and he offered her roasted grain. She ate and was satisfied and had some left over.
So King Zedekiah gave orders, and Jeremiah was placed in the guard’s courtyard. He was given a loaf of bread each day from the baker’s street until all the bread was gone from the city. So Jeremiah remained in the guard’s courtyard.
But He answered, “It is written:Man must not live on bread alone
but on every word that comes
from the mouth of God.”
Now the One who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will provide and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
