and that you may tell in the hearing of your son, and of your grandson, how I made a mockery of the Egyptians and how I performed My signs among them, that you may know that I am the LORD."

Therefore, I sacrifice to the LORD the males, the first offspring of every womb, but every firstborn of my sons I redeem.'
"Only give heed to yourself and keep your soul diligently, so that you do not forget the things which your eyes have seen and they do not depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your sons and your grandsons.
"When your son asks you in time to come, saying, 'What do the testimonies and the statutes and the judgments mean which the LORD our God commanded you?' then you shall say to your son, 'We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt, and the LORD brought us from Egypt with a mighty hand.
"You shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up.
Hear, my son, your father's instruction And do not forsake your mother's teaching;
Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
"Assemble the people, the men and the women and children and the alien who is in your town, so that they may hear and learn and fear the LORD your God, and be careful to observe all the words of this law. "Their children, who have not known, will hear and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as you live on the land which you are about to cross the Jordan to possess."

He who withholds his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him diligently.
It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.
Discipline your son while there is hope, And do not desire his death.
Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of discipline will remove it far from him.
Do not hold back discipline from the child, Although you strike him with the rod, he will not die.
The rod and reproof give wisdom, But a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother.
He must be one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity

And his mother would make him a little robe and bring it to him from year to year when she would come up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.
