While he was saying these things to them, behold, a ruler came and knelt before him, saying, "My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her and she will live."

Then came one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name. And seeing him, he fell at his feet, and pleaded earnestly with him, saying, "My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be healed, and live."

And behold, there came a man named Jairus, who was a ruler of the synagogue; and he fell at Jesus' feet and begged him to come to his house, for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. But as he went, the people pressed round him.

When Jesus came to the ruler's house, and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd, he said, "Depart; for the girl is not dead but sleeping." And they laughed at him. But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose.

When they came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, he saw a tumult, and people weeping and wailing loudly. And when he came in, he said to them, "Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeping." And they laughed at him. But after he put them all outside, he took the child's father and mother and those who were with him, and went in where the child was.read more.
He took her by the hand and said to her, "Talitha cumi!" which means, "Little girl, I say to you, arise." Immediately the girl stood up and walked (she was twelve years of age). And they were overcome with great amazement. He strictly charged them that no one should know this, and told them to give her something to eat.

While he was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue's house and said, "Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the Teacher any more." But Jesus on hearing this answered him, "Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be well." When he came into the house he permitted no one to go in with him except Peter, James, and John, and the father and mother of the girl.read more.
Now all were wailing and mourning for her; but he said, "Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping." And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. But he took her by the hand and called, saying, "Child, arise." Then her spirit returned, and she got up at once. And he directed that something should be given her to eat.

And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and cried to him, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed." But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and urged him, saying, "Send her away, for she is crying out after us."read more.
He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." But she came and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, help me!" And he answered, "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." "Yes, Lord," she said, "yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table." Then Jesus answered her, "O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

From there he arose and went away to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And he entered a house, and did not want anyone to know it; yet he could not be hidden. But a woman whose little daughter was possessed by an unclean spirit heard about him, and she came and fell at his feet. Now the woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by birth. And she begged him to cast the demon out of her daughter.read more.
And he said to her, "Let the children first be fed, for it is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." But she answered him, "Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs." Then he said to her, "For this saying you may go your way; the demon has left your daughter." She went home, and found her child lying on the bed, and the demon gone.

And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to him and kneeling before him said, "Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly; for often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. And I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him."read more.
Then Jesus answered, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to me." And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was cured from that moment.

And one of the crowd answered him, "Teacher, I brought my son to you, who has a mute spirit. And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to cast out the spirit, but they could not." He answered him, "O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me."read more.
And they brought the boy to him. And when the spirit saw him, immediately it convulsed the boy, and he fell on the ground and rolled about, foaming at the mouth. And Jesus asked his father, "How long has he been like this?" And he said, "From childhood. And it has often thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have pity on us and help us." Jesus said to him, "If you can, all things are possible to him who believes." Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, "I believe; help my unbelief!" And when Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "You dumb and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and never enter him again." And the spirit cried out, convulsed him terribly, and came out. And the boy was like a corpse; so that many of them said, "He is dead." But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.

And behold, a man from the crowd cried out, "Teacher, I beg you to look upon my son, for he is my only child. And behold, a spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out; it convulses him so that he foams at the mouth, and will hardly leave him, bruising him. I begged your disciples to cast it out, but they could not."read more.
Then Jesus answered, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here." While he was coming, the demon threw him and convulsed him. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father. And they were all amazed at the majesty of God. But while everyone was marveling at all that Jesus did, he said to his disciples,

Soon afterward, he went to a city called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. As he came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, "Do not weep."read more.
Then he came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And he said, "Young man, I say to you, arise." The dead man sat up, and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother.

So he came again to Cana in Galilee, where he had made the water wine. And at Capernaum there was an official whose son was sick. When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and begged him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Jesus said to him, "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will never believe."read more.
The official said to him, "Sir, come down before my child dies." Jesus said to him, "Go; your son will live." The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went his way. As he was going down, his servants met him and told him that his son was living. So he inquired of them the hour when his son got better, and they said to him, "Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him."
