however, we know from what quarter this man comes: but when Christ comes it will be unknown whence he came.

and all drank the same spiritual drink: (for they drank of what flowed from the spiritual rock: and that rock was Christ.)
now to Abraham and his offspring were the promises made. he does not say, "to offsprings," as if he spoke of many; but as speaking of one, "and to thy offspring," which means Christ.
