And as Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax-office. And He said to him, Follow Me! And he arose and followed Him.
And as He passed on, He saw Levi the son of Alpheus sitting at the tax-office. And He said to him, Follow Me. And he arose and followed Him.
And after these things He went out and saw a tax-collector named Levi, sitting at the tax-office. And He said to him, Follow Me.
Jesus said to him, If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in Heaven. And come, follow Me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful; for he had great possessions.
The day after, Jesus desired to go forth into Galilee. And He found Philip and said to him, Follow Me.
He spoke this signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, Follow Me.
And may the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like minded toward one another according to Christ Jesus,
But I say this, that every one of you says, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ.
He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me.
If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me, he cannot be My disciple.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.
And calling near the crowd with His disciples, He said to them, Whoever will come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.
And He said to all, If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me.
He who loves his life shall lose it. And he who hates his life in this world shall keep it to life eternal. If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there also My servant shall be. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.
He who finds his life shall lose it. And he who loses his life for My sake shall find it.
For whoever will save his life shall lose it; but whoever shall lose his life for My sake and the gospel's, he shall save it.
Whoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it, and whoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
Jesus said to him, If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in Heaven. And come, follow Me.
Then Jesus, beholding him, loved him and said to him, One thing you lack. Go, sell whatever you have and give it to the poor, and you shall have treasure in Heaven. And come, take up the cross and follow Me.
And when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, Yet you lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you shall have treasure in Heaven. And come, follow Me.
For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he may have enough to finish it; lest perhaps, after he has laid the foundation and is not able to finish, all those seeing begin to mock him, saying, This man began to build and was not able to finish.read more.
Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not first sit down and consult whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace. So then, everyone of you who does not forsake all his possessions, he cannot be My disciple.
For you were not called to this? For Christ also suffered on our behalf, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps,
And He said to another, Follow Me! But he said, Lord, first allow me to go and bury my father.
And another also said, Lord, I will follow You, but first allow me to take leave of those in my house.
And a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His miracles which He did on the sick ones.
From this time many of His disciples went back into the things behind, and walked no more with Him.
And immediately He called them. And they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants and went after Him.
One of the two who heard John and followed Him was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
Still, however, even out of the rulers, many did believe on Him. But because of the Pharisees they did not confess, lest they should be put out of the synagogue;
And there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. He came to Jesus by night and said to Him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God; for no man can do these miracles which you do unless God is with him.
He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me. And he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will reveal Myself to him.
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, cultivate your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Then Jesus said to the Jews who believed on Him, If you continue in My Word, you are My disciples indeed.
If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. The Lord comes!
Slaves, obey your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ; not with eye-service, as men-pleasers, but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
And whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. And this is His commandment, that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment. And he who keeps His commandment dwells in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit which He gave to us.
These are those who were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are those who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, as a firstfruit to God and to the Lamb.
