These things have I written to you, that you who believe in the name of the Son of God may know that you have eternal life.

but these are recorded that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.

For those things which were written before were written for our instruction, that through patience and the consolation of the Scriptures we may have hope.
