they offered him wine to drink, mingled with gall; but when he tasted it, he would not drink it.

For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will to do what is good, but I cannot do it. For I do not do the good I want to do; but the evil I do not want to do is what I do. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.

I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man. And God is faithful, who will not let you be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals."

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us be alert and sober.

Therefore, prepare your minds for action, be sober in spirit, set your hope fully on the grace to be given you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

The end of all things is near; therefore be clear minded and sober for your prayers.

Be sober, be alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
