whom having seized, he also put in prison, having committed him to four quaternions of soldiers to guard him; wishing to bring him out to the people after the passover.

But I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached unto you, which you indeed received, in which you also stand, by which you are also saved; which word I preached to you, if you hold it fast, otherwise you believed in vain. For I delivered unto you in the first place that which I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

and himself is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the first begotten from the dead, in order that in all things himself may be preeminent:

He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

But he says to them, Fear not: you are seeking Jesus, the Nazarene, who has been crucified: He is risen; He is not here: see the place where they laid Him.

But if Christ is not risen, your faith is vain; you are yet in your sins.
