whom he seized and put into prison, delivering him to four quaternions of soldiers to guard him; intending, after the passover, to bring him out to the people.

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached to you at first, which ye received, and wherein ye stand. By which also ye are saved, if ye retain it as I preached it to you: unless indeed ye have believed in vain. For in the first place I delivered to you, that which I also received, to wit, that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures:

And He is the head of the body, which is the church: who is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that in all things He might have the pre-eminence.

He is not here, for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay:

but he said to them, Be not affrighted, ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified, He is risen, He is not here, see the place where they laid Him.

and if Christ be not risen, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
