For he says--'At the time for acceptance I listened to thee, And on the day of deliverance I helped thee.' Now is the time for acceptance! Now is the day of deliverance!
David found favor with God, and prayed that he might find a dwelling for the God of Jacob.
And the Lord daily added to their company those who were in the path of Salvation.
When the angel spoke again: "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
The child grew and became strong and wise, and the blessing of God was upon him.
"Glory to God on high, And on earth peace among men in whom he finds pleasure."
And Jesus grew in wisdom as he grew in years, and 'gained the blessing of God and men.'
For this wins God's approval when, because conscious of God's presence, a man who is suffering unjustly bears his troubles patiently.
Is this, I ask, trying to conciliate men, or God? Am I seeking to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I should not be a servant of Christ.
