and if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;

through which the world at that time was destroyed, being deluged with water. But by the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. They ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
