The next day John saw Jesus coming to him, and said, "behold the lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world."
thus it is written, and thus it behov'd Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preach'd in his name, among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
the God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew, and hanged on a tree. him hath God rais'd by his power to be the author of salvation, by giving repentance to Israel, and the remission of their sins. and we are his witnesses in what we say, and so is the holy spirit, whom God hath given to those that obey him.
in expectation of that desirable happiness, the glorious appearance of the supreme God, and of our saviour Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us, to redeem us from all iniquity, and qualify us to be his peculiar people, passionately affected to virtue.
so Christ being once offered up to take away the sins of many; he shall appear the second time, without making any further expiation to save those who expect him.
he himself cancel'd our sins by the crucifixion of his body, that we being set free from sin, might live in the service of virtue. it is by his bruises that you were healed:
for I am not ashamed of the gospel, since it is divinely effectual to salvation, to everyone that believes, to the Jew first, and then to the Gentile. There it is that divine justification is revealed to be wholly by faith: as it is written, " the just shall live by faith."
but the divine justification certified by the law and the prophets, is now clearly proposed independently of the law: that divine justification, which by faith in Jesus Christ is extended to all, that believe; for there is no distinction: for all having sinned, all have forfeited eternal glory:read more.
being justified by his unmerited favour through the redemption that is by Jesus Christ: whom God had ordained, thro' faith, to be the propitiatory victim by his blood, for the manifestation of his goodness, by patiently passing over their past transgressions: to manifest, I say, his goodness at this time: that he might appear to be just, and the justifier of him who believes in Jesus.
What shall we hence conclude? that the Gentiles who sought not after justice, have obtained justice, even to that which is by faith:
these advantages I renounce for Christ, nay I think them disadvantages when put in competition with the excellency of the knowledge of Jesus Christ my Lord: for whose sake I abandon all these things, and count them as straw, that I may gain Christ, and be his true disciple, not professing that justification, which is derived from the law, but that which is from the gospel,
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, who has given us access by faith to that degree of favour, we are in, by which we triumph in the hopes of divine glory.
I bid you farewell! I give you my last farewell; but I do not give it out of common formality: don't be concern'd for me, or apprehensive for your selves.
Sentence of death therefore shall not pass upon those christians who do not lead a vicious life. for the christian dispensation of a spiritual life has set me free from the legal state of sin and death. God having sent his own son invested with a body like that of sinful men, as a sacrifice for sin, thereby destroyed its power; which the law could not effect, human nature being in such a corrupted state.read more.
so that the moral obligations of the law might be fulfilled by us, in living according to the spiritual, and not the carnal tenor thereof:
since your regeneration is not owing to any corruptible principles, but to the unchangeable word of the immortal God. for human nature is like grass, and all their glory like the flower of the herb, the herb withers, the flower droops, but the word of the Lord remains for ever: and that is the gospel, which has been preached to you.
but to as many as received him, and believed on him, he granted the privilege of being the sons of God. a birth which they had not from circumcision, nor from the constitution of the body, nor the institution of man, but from God.
Jesus answered, I tell thee, except a man be renewed by the spiritual baptism, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. the cleansing of the body is only external, but the purification of the spirit is spiritual. be not surprized that I said to thee, you must be born again.read more.

Concerning the Logos, the author of Life, we declare what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have consider'd, and what has been the object of our touch. for the life was manifested, we have seen it, we testify of it, and denounce unto you, that eternal life which was with the father, and was manifested unto us.
he that receives the son, is intitled to life; and he that does not receive the son of God, has no title to life.
