And when Jesus was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, there came to Him a woman with an alabaster-box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head as He was at table: but when his disciples saw it, they were some of them provoked at it, and said, Wherefore is this waste?read more.

And there were some provoked at it and said, Why was this waste made of the ointment? For it might have been sold for above three hundred pence, and given to the poor. And they inveighed against her.
And Mary taking a pound of ointment of spikenard of great value, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped them with her hair; and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. Therefore said one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, who was about to betray Him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence and given to the poor?read more.
He said this, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the common purse he carried what was put into it.
Then the high priest rose up, and all that were with him, (being of the sect of the sadducees,) and were filled with rage:
And when they heard these things, they were cut to the heart and gnashed their teeth at him.
and dancing, and having pleased Herod and his guests, the king said to the young princess, Ask of me whatever thou wilt, and I will give it thee. And he gave her his oath too, whatever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, even to the half of my kingdom. for out of the heart of men proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murthers, thefts, avarice, malice, deceit, lasciviousness, envy, slander, pride, folly; all these evils come from within and defile the man.
For out of the heart proceed wicked disputings, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false-witnessings, slanders: these defile a man, but to eat without washing the hands doth not defile him.
Render to no one evil for evil: behaving honorably in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as ye can, live peaceably with all men. And he would not: but went away and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. Now when his fellow-servants saw what was done, they were very much grieved, and came and acquainted their lord with all that had passed. Then his lord called for him again, and said to him, Thou wicked slave, I forgave thee all that vast debt at thy request, and oughtest not thou to have had compassion on thy fellow-servant, even as I had on thee? And his lord being highly provoked delivered him to the officers, till he should pay all that was owing to him. Thus will my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye forgive not every one his brother from your hearts their trespasses.
bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if any one has a complaint against any: even as Christ hath forgiven you, so also do ye.
