Luke 4:1-13

Jesus was full of God's Holy Spirit when he returned from the Jordan. Holy Spirit led him into the wilderness. He spent forty days in the wilderness being tempted by the devil. He did not eat anything during those days so when it was over he was hungry. The devil said to him: If you are the Son of God command this stone to become bread.read more.
Jesus answered him: It is written, man shall not live by bread alone. (Deuteronomy 8:3) He led him up to a high place and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. Then the devil said: I will give all this authority and glory to you, for it has been turned over to me. I may give it to whomever I will. If you will worship me it will all be yours. Jesus answered: It is written, you shall worship Jehovah your God and him only shall you serve. (Deuteronomy 6:13-15; 10:12; 10:20) (Exodus 20:3-5) He led him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle (highest level) of the temple. Then he said to him: If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down from here. It is written, he shall give his angels charge concerning you to guard you. They will carry you with their hands so you do not dash your foot against a stone. Jesus replied: It is said you should not test Jehovah your God. (Deuteronomy 6:16) When the devil had completed every temptation he departed from him for a season.

Matthew 16:21-23

From that time forward Jesus made it clear to his disciples how he would have to go to Jerusalem. He told them he would undergo much at the hands of the authorities, including the chief priests and scribes. He let them know he would be put to death. The third day he would come back from the dead. Peter protested and rebuked Jesus. He said: Do not think of that, Lord; it will never happen to you. He turned to Peter and said: Get behind me, Satan. You are a stumbling block to me. You think the things of men, not of God.

Mark 8:31-33

Then he taught them that the Son of man must suffer many things. The elders, chief priests, and the scribes will reject him. He will be killed and after three days he will rise from the dead. Jesus spoke openly about this. Peter took him aside and rebuked him. He turned around and looked at his disciples. Then he rebuked Peter saying: Get behind me Satan for you do not pay attention to the things of God. You tend to the things of men.

Matthew 26:36-44

Jesus went with them to Gethsemane. He said to his disciples: Sit here while I go over there and pray. He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with him. He was sorrowful and very troubled. He told them: My heart is deeply grieved to the point of death. Stay with me and watch.read more.
Then he went forward a little, and fell on his face, and prayed: My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will. When he came to the disciples, they were sleeping. He said to Peter: Could you not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray continually that you do not enter into temptation! A second time he went away and prayed, saying: Father, if this cannot pass away, except I drink it, your will be done. He returned to find them sleeping again, for their eyes were heavy. He went away to pray a third time, saying the same words.

Mark 14:32-42

They came to a place called Gethsemane. He said to his disciples: Sit here while I pray. He took Peter, James and John with him. He was very distressed and troubled. He said to them: I am very sorrowful to the point of death. Stay here with me and watch.read more.
He went forward a little ways and fell on the ground to pray. He prayed that if it were possible the hour might pass from him. He said: Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Take this cup from me. Even so not what I will, but what you will. He returned to find them sleeping. He said to Peter, Simon why do you sleep? Could you not watch for one hour? To avoid temptation watch and pray. The spirit truly is willing but the flesh is weak. Again he went away and prayed, and spoke the same words. He came and found them asleep again. They did not know what to say to him. He came a third time and said to them: Sleep and take your rest. It is enough the hour has come. Look, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners! Rise up and let us go. He that betrays me is near.

Luke 22:40-46

When he arrived he said to them: Pray that you do not enter into temptation. He went a short distance from them and kneeled down and prayed. He prayed: Father if it is your will remove this cup from me, nevertheless not my will, but your will be done.read more.
An angel came to him and gave him strength. (possible spurious text) He was in agony and earnestly prayed. His sweat became, as it were great drops of blood falling down upon the ground. When he finished his prayer he went to the disciples, and found them sleeping because of their sorrow. He said: Why do you sleep? Arise and pray that you do not enter into temptation.

Matthew 27:39-44

People passing by spoke evil abuse to him. They wagged their heads and said, You who would destroy the Temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself. If you are the Son of God come down from the stake. In like manner the chief priests, scribes, and elders mocked him.read more.
