It is what existed from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our own eyes, what we have beheld, what our own hands have touched, about the very message of life -- and that life has been unveiled to us, and we have seen it and now testify to it and we now announce it to you, yea, the eternal life that was with the Father and has been unveiled to us. and now we write these things to you to make our joy complete. And this is the message that we have heard from Him and now announce to you: God is light, and there is no darkness at all in Him.

A revelation given by Jesus Christ which God gave to Him, to make known to His slaves what must very soon take place. He sent and communicated it through His angel to His slave John, who testifies to what he saw, the message of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Blessed be the man who reads them and the people who hear the messages of this prophecy read, and heed what is written in it, for the time is near.

Then he said to me, "Write, 'Blessed are they who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.' These," he said to me, "are the true words of God." Then I fell before his feet to worship him, but he said to me, "You must take care not to do that. I am only a fellow-slave of yours and of your brothers who hold to the testimony borne by Jesus. Worship God. For the testimony borne by Jesus is the inspiring spirit of prophecy."

Then he said to me: "These words are trustworthy and true; the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent His angel to show His slaves what must soon take place. See! I am coming soon! Blessed is he who practices the truths of prophecy contained in this book." It is I, John, who heard and saw these things. When I heard and saw them, I fell at the feet of the angel who was showing them to me, to worship him.

On the Lord's day I was in the Spirit's power, and I heard a voice like a trumpet behind me say: "Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea."

So when I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. But He laid His right hand upon me and said: "Do not be afraid any more. I am the First and the Last; yea, the ever-living One. I once was dead, but now I live forever and ever. I carry the keys of death and the underworld.
