Of course David, after serving God's purpose in his own generation, died and was laid beside his fathers; he suffered decay, but He whom God raised did not suffer decay.
And as Jesus taught in the temple he asked, "How can the scribes say that the Christ is David's son? David himself said in the holy Spirit, The Lord said to my Lord, 'Sit at my right hand, till I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.' David here calls him Lord. Then how can he be his son?" Now the mass of the people listened with delight to him.
As the Pharisees had mustered, Jesus put a question to them. "Tell me," he said, "what you think about the Christ. Whose son is he?" They said to him, "David's." He said to them, "How is it then that David in the Spirit calls him Lord?read more.
The Lord said to my Lord, 'Sit at my right hand, till I put your enemies under your feet.' If David calls him Lord, how can he be his son?"
But he said to them, "How can people say that the Christ is David's son? Why, David himself says in the book of psalms, The Lord said to my Lord, 'Sit at my right hand, till I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.'read more.
