Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he has purchased with his own blood.
Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for dishonest gain, but of a ready mind;
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them who cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned; and avoid them.
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
And the things that you have heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
Take heed unto yourself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this you shall both save yourself, and them that hear you.
And we beseech you, brethren, to know them who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in honor:
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labor in the word and doctrine.
I beseech you, brethren, (you know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have devoted themselves to the ministry of the saints,) That you submit yourselves unto such, and to every one that works with us, and labors.
Even so has the Lord ordained that they who preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
Let him that is taught in the word share with him that teaches in all good things.
For the scripture says, You shall not muzzle the ox that treads out the grain. And, The laborer is worthy of his reward.
Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;
And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.
Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in honor: Because for the work of Christ he was near unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.
And my trial which was in my flesh you despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.
Remember them who have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their manner of life.
And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you fulfill it.
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teaches, on teaching; Or he that exhorts, on exhortation: he that gives, let him do it in simplicity; he that rules, with diligence; he that shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of workings, but it is the same God who works all in all.read more.
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man for profit. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another various kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But in all these works that one and same Spirit, dividing to every man individually as he will.
But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
For, brethren, you have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Be tender loving one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;
Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loves another has fulfilled the law.
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. And above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
Seeing you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto sincere love of the brethren, see that you love one another with a pure heart fervently:
And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
Likewise, you younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.
Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are idle, encourage the faint-hearted, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
Murmur not one against another, brethren, lest you be judged: behold, the judge stands before the door.
Therefore receive one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.
