Charge those who are rich in this present age, not to be high-minded, nor to have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, Who giveth us richly all things for enjoyment;
"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and Mammon.

So is he who is laying up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."
For the sun arose with scorching heat, and withered the grass, and its flower fell out, and the beauty of its appearance perished, so also will the rich man fade away in his goings.
Come now, ye rich, weep, howling over your miseries that are coming upon you! Your wealth has become corrupted, and your garments have become moth-eaten. Your gold and silver are covered with rust, and their rust will be for a witness against you, and will eat your flesh, as fire. Ye laid up treasures in the last days!
And the fruit of your souls coveting departed from you, and all dainty things and sumptuous things perished from you, and in nowise shall men find them any more.
Come now, ye who say, "To-day or to-morrow we will go into this city, and spend one year there, and trade, and get gain," (ye who, indeed, know nothing of to-morrow! what is your life? for ye are a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away); instead of your saying, "If the Lord will, we shall both live, and do this or that."read more.
But now ye are glorying in your boastings! all such glorying is evil.

Then one of the twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, going to the high priests, said, "What are ye willing to give me, and I will deliver Him up to you?" And they paid him thirty pieces of silver.
And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went away to the high priests, that he might deliver Him up to them. And they, hearing it, rejoiced, and promised to give him money. And he was seeking how he might conveniently deliver Him up.
and, departing, he consulted with the high priests and captains, how he might deliver Him up to them. And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.
for what will a man be profited, if he gain the whole world, and suffer damage as to his soul? or what will a man give as an exchange for his soul?
For what is a man profited, in having gained the whole world, but having lost or forfeited himself?
knowing that, not with perishable things, with silver or gold, were ye redeemed from your vain course of life handed down from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot;

saying, "Give me also this authority, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit." But Peter said to him, "Your money perish with you, because you thought to acquire the gift of God with money!
I counsel you to buy of Me gold refined by fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness may not be made manifest; and eye-salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see!
