Now in those days came John the baptist preaching in the desert part of Judea, and saying, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand:
but when the fulness of the time came, God sent forth his Son born of a woman made under the law,
And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand: and in confirmation of your doctrine heal the sick,
and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent, and believe the gospel.
For when we were yet without strength, Christ died in due season for the ungodly.
and those that followed, as many as have prophesied, have also foretold these days. Now ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant, which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, "And in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed:" and to you first God having raised up his son Jesus, sent Him to bless you; in your turning away every one of you from your iniquities.
Wherefore though God overlooked the times of this ignorance, He now requireth all men every where to repent.
for as I was passing along, and looking at what ye worshipped, I found an altar on which there was inscribed, "To the unknown God." Whom therefore ye worship unknown, Him do I declare unto you.
Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness, and forbearance, and long-suffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
But, beloved; be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow as to his promise (as some count it slowness) but is long-suffering towards us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
for He saith, "I have heard thee in an acceptable time, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee." Behold now is the acceptable time; behold now is the day of salvation.
He appoints a certain day, called To-day, saying by David so long after, (as it is recorded) "To-day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts."
And another angel came out from the altar, who had power over the fire; and he called out with a loud cry to Him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Put in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for its grapes are ripe.
and people, saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the time of his judgement is come: and worship Him that made the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
And we co-operating with Him do also exhort you that ye receive not the grace of God in vain: for He saith, "I have heard thee in an acceptable time, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee." Behold now is the acceptable time; behold now is the day of salvation.
For we who believe shall enter into rest, as He said above, "So I sware in my wrath, they shall not enter into my rest:" though the works of creation were finished from the foundation of the world:
And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hearken to your words; when ye come out of that house or city, shake off the very dust of your feet:
And whosoever will not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Sodom or Gomorrah in the day of judgement, than for that city.
And whosoever will not receive you, when ye depart from that city, shake off the very dust from your feet, for a testimony against them.
And as He drew near, beholding the city, He wept over it, saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at lest in this thy day, the things relating to thy peace--- but now they are hid from thine eyes.
Then Paul and Barnabas boldly said, It was necessary that the word of God should be first spoken to you; but since ye reject it, and judge not yourselves worthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles: for so the Lord hath commanded us, saying, "I have appointed thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation to the utmost part of the earth." And when the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were determined for eternal life believed.read more.
And the word of the Lord was spread through the whole country: but the Jews stirred up devout and honorable women, and the heads of the city, and raised a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their territories. But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came to Iconium.
And so disagreeing one with another they separated, when Paul had said one word, to wit, that the holy Spirit spake rightly by Esaias the prophet to our fathers, saying, Go to this people and say, Ye shall hear by the hearing of the ear, and not understand; and in seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: for the heart of this people is stupified, and they hear heavily with their ears, and have closed their eyes; least they should see at all with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.read more.
Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent to the Gentiles, and they will hear it.
Do not ye say, it is yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, lift up your eyes, and see the fields, they are already white for harvest.
And He said unto them, The harvest indeed is great, but the laborers are few: pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that He would send out workmen to his harvest.
and be always ready to answer every one that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness and reverence:
