but as He who hath called you is holy, be ye also holy in all your conversation: since it is written, Be ye holy, for I am holy.

Whence also it is said in scripture, Behold I lay in Sion a chief corner-stone, choice and precious: and he that confideth on it shall not be ashamed. To you therefore who believe it is precious: but to them that are disobedient, the stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner, and a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence. That the proof of your faith, which is much more precious than of gold, (that perisheth, though tried by fire) may be found unto praise, and honor, and glory, when Jesus Christ shall be revealed:

but rejoice in that ye are partakers in the sufferings of Christ; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may also rejoice with exceeding joy.

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements being set on fire shall be dissolved, and the earth and the works therein shall be burnt up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in holy conversation and godliness, expecting and hastening on the coming of the day of God, whereby the heavens being set on fire shall be dissolved, and the burning elements shall be melted.read more.
But we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwelleth.

And there is salvation in no other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we can be saved.

And Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the holy Spirit:

Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out: that seasons of refreshing may come upon you from the presence of the Lord;

Then Peter opened his mouth and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

And after much debate, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Brethren, ye know that a good while ago, God, who was among us, chose that the Gentiles should hear by my mouth the word of the gospel, and believe. And God who knoweth the heart, bare witness to them, giving them the holy Spirit, as He had done also to us: and made no difference between us and them, having purified their hearts by faith.

Thus I have written briefly by Silvanus, a faithful brother to you (as I judge) exhorting and testifying, that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.

Therefore laying aside all malice, and all deceit, and hypocrisies,

Be subject therefore to every human form of government, for the Lord's sake: whether it be to a king as supreme; or to governors as persons sent by him for the punishment of evil-doers, and the praise of them that do well.

having a good conscience, that whereas they speak against you as evil-doers, they may be ashamed who calumniate your good conversation in Christ.

Beloved, be not surprised at the fiery trial coming upon you, which is to try you, as if some strange thing befel you: but rejoice in that ye are partakers in the sufferings of Christ; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may also rejoice with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the Spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: and though as to them He is blasphemed, yet as to you He is glorified.read more.
But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as a malefactor, or as an intermeddler with other people's affairs. But if any suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God herein.

Wherefore I will not neglect to put you always in mind of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the present truth.

and by artful speeches they will make sale of you for gain. Whose judgement is long since hastening, and their destruction doth not slumber.
