And they consulted together, and bought with them the potters field, for a burialplace for strangers. Wherefore that field hath been called, The Field of Blood, unto this day. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was priced, whom they of the sons of Israel priced,read more.
and gave them for the potters field; as the Lord commanded me."

Now this man purchased a field with the wages of the iniquity; and falling headlong he burst asunder in the middle, and all his bowels gushed out.

Hear another parable. There was a householder, who planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about it, and dug in it a winepress, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went abroad. And when the season of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive his fruits. And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.read more.
Again he sent other servants more than the first; and they dealt with them in the same manner. And afterward he sent to them his son, saying, They will respect my son. But the husbandmen, when they saw the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and get his inheritance. And they took him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. When therefore the lord of the vineyard cometh, what will he do to those husbandmen? They say to him, He will bring those wicked men to a miserable end, and will let out his vineyard to other husbandmen, who will render him the fruits in their season.

Still he had one beloved son; he sent him last to them, saying, They will respect my son. But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours. And they took him and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard. What will the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others.

And he began to speak to the people this parable: A man planted a vineyard, and let it out to husbandmen, and went abroad for a long time. And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard; but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away emptyhanded. And he sent still another servant; and they beat him also, and treated him shamefully, and sent him away emptyhanded.read more.
And he went on to send a third; and they wounded him also, and cast him out. And the lord of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will respect him. But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir; let us kill him, that the inheritance may become ours. So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What then will the lord of the vineyard do to them? He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others. And when they heard this, they said, God forbid!

These all died in faith, not having received the promised blessings, but having seen them from afar, and greeted them, and having professed that they were strangers and sojourners on the earth. For they who say such things show plainly that they are seeking a country. And if indeed they had been mindful of that from which they came out, they would have had opportunity to return;read more.
but now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly. Wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for he prepared for them a city.

By faith Abraham, when called, obeyed to go forth to a place which he was afterward to receive for an inheritance, and went forth, not knowing whither he was going. By faith he sojourned in the land of the promise, as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he was looking for the city which hath foundations, whose maker and builder is God.

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Blessed are the meek; for they will inherit the earth.

But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
