So they drew up Jeremiah with cords, and took him up out of the cistern: and Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.
Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live forever. My God has sent his angel, and has shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: because before him innocence was found in me; and also before you, O king, have I done no wrong. Then was the king exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of harm was found upon him, because he believed in his God.
This man was taken of the Jews, and would have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman.
Delivering you from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send you,
Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
