For, if there come into your synagogue a man with a gold ring, in splendid apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile apparel; and ye show regard to him who is wearing the splendid apparel, and say, "Sit here in a good place"; and say to the poor man, "Stand, or sit under my footstool";read more.
do ye not make a distinction among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? Hearken, my beloved brethren, did not God choose the poor of the world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to those who love Him? But ye dishonored the poor man! Do not the rich oppress you, and do they not drag you before the judgment-seats? Do they not blaspheme the worthy name by which ye were called? If, however, ye fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," ye do well; but, if ye show respect to persons, ye commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors.
Honor all men; love the brotherhood; fear God; honor the king.
For God said, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and 'He that speaks evil of father or mother, let him surely die,' But ye say, 'Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, That by which you might be profited by me is an offering,' shall in no wise honor his father; and ye made void the word of God because of your tradition.
For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and 'He that speaks evil of father or mother, let him surely die.' But ye say, 'If a man say to his father or mother, That wherewith you might be profited by me is Corban,' that is, 'an offering to God,' ye no longer suffer him to do anything for his father or his mother;read more.

You know the commandments, 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not kill,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not bear false witness,' 'Honor your father and your mother.'"
Children, obey your parents in the Lord; for this is right. "Honor your father and mother" (which, indeed, is the first commandment with a promise), "that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth."
Children, obey your parents in all things; for this is well pleasing in the Lord.
Furthermore, we used to have the fathers of our flesh as chasteners, and we reverenced them: shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of our spirits, and live?

And, taking a little child, He set it in the midst of them; and, holding it in His arms, He said to them, "Whosoever receives one of such little children in My name, receives Me; and whosoever receives Me, receives not Me, but Him Who sent Me."
Now Jesus, knowing the reasoning of their heart, taking a child, placed it by Himself, and said to them, "Whosoever shall receive this child in My name, receives Me; and whosoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me; for he that is least among you all, the same is great."
Then were brought to Him little children, that He might put His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, "Permit the little children??nd do not forbid them??o come to Me; for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven." And, having laid His hands on them, He departed thence.
And they were bringing little children to Him, that He might touch them; and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus, seeing it, was much displeased, and said to them, "Permit the little children to come to Me; forbid them not; for to such belongs the Kingdom of God. Verily I say to you, whosoever does not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child, will in no wise enter therein."read more.
And, taking them in His arms, He was blessing them, placing His hands upon them.
And they were bringing to Him their babes, also, that He might touch them; but the disciples, seeing it, were rebuking them. But Jesus called them to Him, saying, "Suffer the little children to come to Me, and forbid them not; for to such belongs the Kingdom of God. Verily I say to you, whosoever does not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child, shall in no wise enter therein."
And, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord.
Children, obey your parents in all things; for this is well pleasing in the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children, lest they be disheartened.
It is needful, therefore, that the bishop be irreproachable, a husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, orderly, hospitable, apt to teach, not given to wine, not a striker, but gentle, not contentious, not a lover of money, presiding well over his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravityread more.
(but, if one knows not how to preside over his own house, how will he take care of an assembly of God?); not a novice; lest, being puffed up, he fall into condemnation of the Devil. And it is needful also that he have an honorable testimony from those without, lest he fall into reproach and a snare of the Devil. It is needful that deacons, in like manner, be grave, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy of base gain; holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. But let these also first be proved; then let them serve as deacons, being without reproach. It is needful that their wives, in like manner, be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
Let every soul be in subjection to the authorities that are over him; for there is no authority, except from God; and the authorities that are have been appointed by God. So that he who resists the authority withstands the ordinance of God; and those having resisted shall receive to themselves condemnation; for rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. And do you wish not to fear the authority? Do that which is good, and you shall have praise from the same;read more.
for he is God's minister to you for good. But, if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he bears not the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger for wrath to him that does evil. Wherefore, there is necessity that ye submit yourselves, not only because of the wrath, but also because of conscience. For, on this account, ye pay tribute also; for they are God's ministers, attending continually to this very thing. Render to all their dues; tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.
And we beseech you, brethren, to know those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
Obey those who are your leaders, and submit to them; for they watch in behalf of your souls, as those who are to give an account; that they may do this with joy, and not with sighing; for this would be unprofitable for you.
Rebuke not an elder, but exhort him as a father; the younger men, as brethren: the elder women, as mothers: younger, as sisters, in all purity.
