The earth is the LORD's, and the fullness thereof; the world and they that dwell therein. For he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.
The riches and the glory are before thee, and thou dost reign over all, and in thy hand is power and might and in thy hand the greatness and the strength of all things.
and thou say in thy heart, My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth. But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God, for it is he that gives thee the power to get wealth that he may confirm his covenant which he swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Then Isaac sowed in that land and received in the same year one hundred-fold, and the LORD blessed him. And the man waxed great and went forward and grew until he became very great,
and he has brought us into this place and has given us this land, even a land that flows with milk and honey. And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land which thou, O LORD, hast given me. And thou shalt set it before the LORD thy God and worship before the LORD thy God.
The blessing of the LORD is that which makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.
Then Satan answered the LORD and said, Does Job fear God for nothing? Hast thou not made a hedge about him and about his house and about all that he has on every side? Thou hast blessed the work of his hands; therefore, his substance has increased in the land.

Wilt thou set thine eyes upon riches which are not? For they shall certainly make themselves wings; they shall fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
For riches are not for ever, and does the crown endure to every generation?
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal;
knowing that ye have been ransomed from your vain conversation (which you received from your fathers), not with corruptible things like silver and gold,
And the fruits of the desire of thy soul are departed from thee, and all the fat and excellent things are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all. The merchants of these things, who were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, and saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen and purple and scarlet and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls!read more.
For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster and all the company in ships and sailors and as many as trade by sea stood afar off and cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city was like unto this great city! And they cast dust on their heads and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, in which all that had ships in the sea were made rich by reason of her riches! for in one hour is she made desolate. Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye saints, apostles, and prophets; for God has judged your cause upon her.
And the world passes away and the lust thereof, but he that does the will of God abides for ever.
And one of the crowd said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me. And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you? And he said unto them, Take heed and beware of all covetousness; for a man's life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possesses.read more.
And he spoke a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully; and he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my storehouses and build greater, and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast many goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee; then whose shall those things be which thou hast stored up? So is he that lays up treasure for himself and is not rich in God.
But piety with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. So that, sustenance and covering, let us be content with this.
