And the young men arose, wound him up, and carrying him out, buried him. And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. And Peter said to her, Tell me, if ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. And Peter said to her, Why have ye agreed together, to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of them that have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.
Now therefore why endeavour ye to put a yoke on the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents.
But let your conversation be yea, yea; nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these, cometh of the evil one.
But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thy heart, to lie to the Holy Ghost?
Withdraw not from each other, unless it be by consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to prayer, and may come together again, lest Satan tempt you through your incontinence.
I counsel therefore the younger women to marry, bear children, guide the family, give no occasion of reproach to the adversary. For some are already turned aside after Satan.
To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: and if I forgive any thing, to whom I forgive it, it is for your sakes, in the person of Christ. Lest Satan get an advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.
But if ye have bitter zeal and strife in your hearts, do not glory and lie against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, animal, devilish. For where bitter zeal and strife is, there is unquietness and every evil work.
Then was Jesus led up by the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted by the devil. And having fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterwards hungry. And the tempter coming to him said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.read more.

Then the devil taketh him with him into the holy city, and setteth him on the battlement of the temple, And saith to him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down; for it is written, He shall charge his angels concerning thee, and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said to him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Again the devil taketh him with him to an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them, And saith to him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then Jesus saith to him, Get thee hence, Satan; for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and behold angels came and waited upon him.
And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost, returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, Being forty days tempted by the devil. And in those days he ate nothing, and when they were ended he hungered. And the devil said to him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.read more.

And Jesus answering said to him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. And the devil, having ended all the temptation, departed from him till a convenient season.
But he turning said to Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan; thou art an offence to me: for thou savourest not the things of God, but the things of men.
And Peter taking hold of him, rebuked him. But he turning about, and looking on his disciples rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan; for thou savourest not the things of God, but the things of men.
let us hold fast our profession, For we have not an high-priest who cannot sympathize with our infirmities, but who was in all points tempted like as we are: yet without sin.
Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. Now in putting all things in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him: but now we do not yet see all things put under him.
Fear none of those things which thou art about to suffer: behold the devil is about to cast some of you into prison that ye may be tried, and ye shall have affliction ten days: Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.
Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee, from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon the whole world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
for your adversary the devil, walketh about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour:
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing; but the flesh is weak.
Couldest thou not watch one hour? Watch and pray, lest ye enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
And when he was at the place he said to them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
But I have prayed for thee that thy faith fail not: and when thou art returned, strengthen thy brethren.
There hath no temptation taken you, but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above your ability, but will with the temptation make also a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to reserve the unrighteous to the day of judgment to be punished.
For in that he hath suffered, being tempted himself, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
