And the Spirit immediately drove him into the wilderness, and he was in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the beasts; and the angels waited on him.
AND Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, being tempted by the devil forty days. And he eat nothing in those days; and when they were completed he was hungry. And the devil said to him, If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.read more.

For they who are according to the flesh mind the things of the flesh, but they who are according to the spirit the things of the spirit; for the minding of the flesh is death, but the minding of the Spirit is life and peace. Because the minding of the flesh is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God; for it can not be.read more.

Let us walk becomingly, as in the day; not in revelries and drinking, not in lewdness and excesses, not in strife and envy; but put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for desires of the flesh.
Whence come wars and contentions among you? Come they not thence, from your pleasures that war in your members?
neither present your members as instruments of wickedness to sin, but present yourselves to God as living from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
But if your right eye offends you, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is better for you that one of your members should perish, and not that your whole body should be cast into hell. And if your right hand offends you, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is better for you that one of your members should perish, and not that your whole body should go into hell.
If your hand or foot offends you, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame, or crippled, than having two hands or two feet to be cast into the eternal fire. And if your eye offends you, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life having one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire.
And if your hand offends you, cut it off; it is better for you to enter into life crippled, than having two hands to go away into hell, into the inextinguishable fire. Be not deceived; evil companionships corrupt good morals.
And whoever shall offend one of the little ones having faith, it would be better for him if a millstone was put about his neck and he was cast into the sea.
but whoever offends one of these little ones that believe in me, it would be better for him that a millstone should be hung to his neck, and that he should be plunged into the depths of the sea.
