Then the devil left Him, and behold angels came and attended Him.
And immediately the Spirit taketh Him out into the wilderness: and He was there in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan, and among the wild beasts: and angels ministred unto Him.
Now Jesus being full of the holy Spirit, returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being forty days tempted by the devil; and He did eat nothing in all those days: and when they were ended, at last He was hungry. And the devil said to Him, If thou art the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.read more.

And Jesus answered him, it is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from Him for a time.
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever. Amen."
Ye are of your father the devil, and are bent upon doing the lusts of your father: he was a murderer from the beginning, and continued not in the truth: for there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh like himself, for he is a liar, and the father of such.

God forbid! Know ye not, that to whom ye present yourselves servants to obedience, his servants ye are whom ye obey? either of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions while we were under the law operated in our bodies so as to bring forth fruit unto death.
What shall we say then? is the law sin? God forbid! Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust to be sinful, if the law had not said, "Thou shalt not covet." But sin taking occasion by the commandment wrought in me all manner of concupiscence: for without the law sin was dead. and the commandment which was intended to life, I found to be unto death. For sin taking occasion by the commandment deceived me, and by it slew me. So that the law is holy; and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
For all that is in the world, the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but of the world.
Take heed to yourselves, least at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness, and the cares of life, and so that day should come upon you unawares:

Take heed, my brethren, least there be in any of you a wicked heart of unbelief in departing from the living God:
For they who are after the flesh, mind the things of the flesh; but they who are led by the Spirit, do mind spiritual things. Now to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace: because the carnal mind is an enemy to God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be:read more.

especially those who walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise authority; who, being audacious and self-willed, are not afraid to speak evil of dignities:
But every man is tempted, when drawn aside and insnared by his own vehement desire. Then desire having conceived bringeth forth sin, and sin when it is finished bringeth forth death.
Let us behave decently as being in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lasciviousness, not in strife and envying. But put on the Lord Jesus, and make not provision for the flesh to gratify its irregular desires.
Whence come wars and fightings among you? Come they not hence? even of your carnal appetites making war in your bodies?
Neither yield your bodies as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but present yourselves to God as alive from the dead, and your bodies as instruments of righteousness to God.
And therefore if thy right eye cause thee to offend, pluck it out and cast it from thee; for it is better for thee that one part of thee perish, than that thy whole body should be cast into hell: and if thy right hand cause thee to offend, cut it off and cast it from thee; for it is better for thee that one of thy limbs should perish, than that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
If then thy hand or thy foot cause thee to offend, cut them off and cast them from thee; it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire: and if thine eye cause thee to offend, pluck it out and cast it from thee; it is better for thee to enter into life with but one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell-fire.
And if thy hand cause thee to offend, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands, to go into hell, into the fire that will never be extinguished; where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot cause thee to offend, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life lame, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the inextinguishable fire;read more.

Be not deceived, bad conversations corrupt good morals.

But see that this liberty of yours be not by any means a stumbling-block to the weak. For if any one see thee, who hast knowledge, at table in an idol's temple, will not the conscience of him that is weak be encouraged to eat of the things sacrificed to idols? and so the weak brother, for whom Christ died, shall perish by thy knowledge?read more.
But in thus sinning against your brethren, and wounding their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ: wherefore if meat make my brother to offend, I will never eat flesh while I breathe, least I make my brother to offend.
