Endowments vary, but the Spirit is the same, and forms of service vary, but it is the same Lord who is served, and activities vary, but God who produces them all in us all is the same.

We have gifts that differ with the favor that God has shown us, whether it is that of preaching, differing with the measure of our faith, or of practical service, differing in the field of service, or the teacher who exercises his gift in teaching, the speaker, in his exhortation, the giver of charity, with generosity, the office-holder, with devotion, the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

I should like to have everyone be just as I am myself; but each one has his own special gift from God, one of one kind, and one of another. To all who are unmarried and to widows, I would say this: It is an excellent thing if they can remain single as I am. But if they cannot control themselves, let them marry. Whatever the endowment God has given you, use it in service to one another, like good dispensers of God's varied mercy. If one preaches, let him do it like one who utters the words of God; if one does some service, let him do it as with strength which God supplies, so that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.
