And I, brethren, have not been able to speak to you as to spiritual, but as to fleshly; as to babes in Christ. I have given you milk to drink, not meat, for ye have not yet been able, nor indeed are ye yet able; for ye are yet carnal. For whereas there are among you emulation and strife, are ye not carnal, and walk according to man?
Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats; but God will bring to nothing both it and them: but the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool; ye kill them that are fattened: but ye feed not the flock.
And he says to them, It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer, but ye have made it a den of robbers.
For every one that partakes of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe;
whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly, and their glory in their shame, who mind earthly things:)
But he answering said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word which goes out through God's mouth.
It is the Spirit which quickens, the flesh profits nothing: the words which I have spoken unto you are spirit and are life.
And he is as a tree planted by brooks of water, which giveth its fruit in its season, and whose leaf fadeth not; and all that he doeth prospereth.
For such serve not our Lord Christ, but their own belly, and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.
And through covetousness, with well-turned words, will they make merchandise of you: for whom judgment of old is not idle, and their destruction slumbers not.
As they were multiplied, so they sinned against me: I will change their glory into shame.
For they that are according to flesh mind the things of the flesh; and they that are according to Spirit, the things of the Spirit. The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money; yet do they lean upon Jehovah, and say, Is not Jehovah in the midst of us? no evil shall come upon us.
