Ye adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore chooseth to be a friend of the world, becometh an enemy of God.
and be not conformed to the fashion of this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that ye may learn by experience what is the will of God, what is good, and wellpleasing, and perfect.
Love not the world, nor the things in the world. If any one loveth the world, the love of the Father is not in him; because all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust thereof; but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
because whatever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that hath overcome the world, even our faith.
If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember what I said to you, A servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my words, they will keep yours also.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for righteousness sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men revile you, and persecute you, and say every thing that is bad against you, falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad; for great is your reward in heaven; for so did they persecute the prophets that were before you.
Blessed are ye when men hate you, and when they exclude you, and revile and cast out your name as evil, on account of the Son of man.
They will put you out of the synagogues; yea, the hour is coming when every one that killeth you will think that he is offering sacrifice to God.
I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Beloved, be not surprised at the fiery trial which is taking place among you to prove you, as though a strange thing were befalling you; but, in so far as ye share in Christs sufferings, rejoice; that also at the manifestation of his glory ye may rejoice with exceeding joy. If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye for the Spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you.read more.
For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evildoer, or as a busybody in other mens matters; but if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this name.

For the flesh hath desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these oppose one another, that ye may not do the things that ye would.

Now, however, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that there dwelleth not in me, that is, in my flesh, any good thing; for to desire is present with me, but not to perform that which is good. For the good that I would, I do not; but the evil which I would not, that I do. But if I do what I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then that there is a law to me, that when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the Law of God, as to the inward man; but I perceive another law in my members warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
For if ye live according to the flesh, ye are sure to die; but if by the Spirit ye make an end of the deeds of the body, ye will live.
And they who belong to Christ Jesus crucified the flesh with the passions and lusts.
Make dead therefore your members which are upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, lust, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry;
Whence are wars and whence are fightings among you? Are they not hence, from your lusts that war in your members?
Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the Devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour;
the enemy that sowed them is the Devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are angels.
And these are they by the wayside, those where the word is sown, and when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in them.
Those by the wayside are they that hear; then cometh the Devil and taketh away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved.
I do not pray thee to take them out of the world, but to keep them from evil.
But faithful is the Lord, who will establish you, and guard you from evil.
Fear not the things which thou art about to suffer. Behold, now, the Devil is about to cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye will have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee the crown of life.
And the dragon was enraged at the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God, and maintain the testimony to Jesus.
For this cause, when I too could no longer forbear, I sent in order to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter might have tempted you, and our labor should prove in vain.
For in that he himself hath suffered, being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
For we have not a highpriest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who hath in all points been tempted as we are, without sin.
but I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve by his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from singleheartedness toward Christ.
And the great dragon was cast down, the old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, who deceiveth the whole world; he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.
that Satan might not gain an advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.
in whom the God of this world blinded the understandings of the unbelieving, so that they cannot behold the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we did not preach, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye did not receive, or another gospel, which ye did not accept, well might ye bear with it.
and cast him into the abyss, and shut him up and set a seal over him, that he may deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years are ended: after that he must be loosed for a short time.
