And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" Jesus answered, "Neither did this man sin, nor his parents; but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
And be not afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear Him Who is able to destroy both soul and body in Hell.
Who, when reviled, reviled not again; when suffering, was not threatening, but committed Himself to Him Who judgeth righteously;
Wherefore, let those also who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing to a Faithful Creator.
Behold, the hire of the workmen who mowed down your fields, which is fraudulently kept back by you, is crying out; and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.
They shall hunger no more, nor thirst any more; nor shall the sun by any means fall on them, nor any heat;
And He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. And death shall be no more; neither mourning, nor crying, nor pain, shall be any more; because the first things passed away."
Then will He say also to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, ye accursed! into the eternal fire which was prepared for the Devil and his angels; for I hungered, and ye did not give Me to eat; I thirsted, and ye gave Me no drink; I was a stranger, and ye took Me not in; naked, and ye did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and ye did not look after Me.'read more.
"Then will they also answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see Thee hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to Thee?' "Then will He answer them, saying, 'Verily I say to you, inasmuch as ye did it not to one of these least, ye did it not to Me!' "And these shall go away into age-lasting punishment, but the righteous into age-lasting life."
For the judgment is without mercy to him who showed no mercy: mercy exults over judgment.
And, if the righteous, with difficulty, is saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear?
Render to her, as she also rendered; and double the double according to her works; in the cup which she mixed, mix ye to her double. As much as she glorified herself, and lived luxuriously, so much torment and mourning give her; because she says in her heart, 'I sit a queen, and am not a widow, and shall in nowise see mourning.'
