For men swear by what is greater than themselves; and with them an oath in confirmation of a statement always puts an end to a dispute.

"Alas for you, you blind guides, who say, "'Whoever swears by the Sanctuary it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the Sanctuary, is bound by the oath.' "Blind fools!
