There is a second like it: "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."
The second is this: "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." There is no other commandment greater than these.
being filled with all unrighteousness, malice, covetousness, wickedness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity; backbiters, slanderers, hated of God, insolent, proud, boasters, inventors of mischief, disobedient to parents, senseless, faithless, without natural affection, without pity;
Then he also that had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee to be a hard man, reaping where thou didst not sow, and gathering where thou didst not scatter seed; and I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth. See! thou hast thine own. But his lord answered and said to him, Wicked and slothful servant! Didst thou know that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I did not scatter seed?
Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do, now that my lord taketh away from me the stewardship? I cannot dig, I am ashamed to beg. I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, I may be received into their houses. So he called to him every one of his lords debtors, and said to the first, How much dost thou owe my lord?read more.
And he said, A hundred measures of oil. And he said to him, Take thy bond, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. Then he said to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, A hundred measures of wheat. He saith to him, Take thy bond, and write eighty. And the lord commended the unjust steward for having done wisely; for the sons of this world are wiser toward their generation than the sons of light. And I say to you, Make to yourselves friends with the unrighteous mammon; that, when it faileth, ye may be received into everlasting habitations. He that is faithful in that which is least, is faithful also in much; and he that is unjust in the least, is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? and if ye have not been faithful in that which is anothers, who will give you that which is your own?
And Zacchaeus stood up, and said to the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken anything from any one by false representation, I restore him fourfold.
And the scribes and the Pharisees bring to him a woman taken in adultery; and having set her in the midst, they say to him, Teacher, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such persons; what then dost thou say?
But I say to you, that whoever putteth away his wife, unless it be on account of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery; and whoever shall marry her when put away, committeth adultery.
And I say to you, Whoever putteth away his wife, except for fornication, and marrieth another, committeth adultery.
And brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child; and children will rise up against their parent, and put them to death;
And brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child; and children will rise up against parents, and put them to death.
And ye will be delivered up both by parents and brothers and kinsmen and friends; and some of you will they put to death.
Behold, the hour is coming, yea, is now come, when ye will be scattered, every one to his own, and will leave me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
Then Jesus saith to them, This night will all of you fall away from me; for it is written, "I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered."
And Jesus saith to them, Ye will all fall away from me; for it is written, "I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered."
But all this hath been done, that the Scriptures of the prophets may be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
And all forsook him and fled.
And while he was yet speaking, lo! Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and elders of the people. And his betrayer had given them a sign, saying, Whomever I shall kiss, he is the man; seize him. And immediately going up to Jesus, he said, Hail, Rabbi! and kissed him.read more.
And Jesus said to him, Friend, for what hast thou come! Then they came and laid hands on Jesus, and seized him.
And immediately, while he was yet speaking, cometh Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, and with him a multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and elders. And his betrayer had given them a signal, saying, Whomever I shall kiss, he is the man; seize him, and lead him away securely. And on coming he immediately went up to him, and said, Rabbi! and kissed him.read more.
And they laid hands on him and seized him.
While he was yet speaking, lo! a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, was at the head of them; and he drew near to Jesus to kiss him. But Jesus said to him, Judas, dost thou betray the Son of man with a kiss?
And Judas also, his betrayer, knew the place; because Jesus often resorted thither with his disciples. Judas then, having received the band of soldiers, and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with torches and lanterns and weapons. But Jesus, knowing all things that were coming upon him, went forth, and saith to them, Whom do ye seek?read more.
They answered him, Jesus the Nazarene. Jesus saith to them, I am he. Now Judas also, his betrayer, was standing with them.
Then he began to curse and to swear, saying, I do not know the man. And immediately a cock crew.
But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak. And immediately a cock crew a second time. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, Before a cock crows twice, thou wilt thrice deny me. And when he thought thereon, he wept.
And in about one hours time, another confidently affirmed, saying, In truth this man also was with him; for he is a Galilaean. And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he was yet speaking, a cock crew. And the Lord turned and looked upon Peter; and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, that he had said to him, Before a cock crows this day, thou wilt thrice deny me.
One of the servants of the highpriest, being a kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him? Then Peter denied again; and immediately a cock crew.
Thou knowest this, that all those in Asia turned away from me, of whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.
Use diligence to come to me shortly. For Demas forsook me, because he loved the present world, and went to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee; for he is useful to me for the ministry.
