And he was seeking to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was small of stature.

So the crowd answered him, "We have heard from the Law that the Christ remains forever. How can you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?"
Then those who were at table with him began to say among themselves, "Who is this, who even forgives sins?"
And the scribes and the Pharisees began to question, saying, "Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?"
Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?"
And Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the way he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that I am?"
Now it happened that as he was praying alone, the disciples were with him. And he asked them, "Who do the crowds say that I am?"
and said to him, "Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?"
calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to the Lord, saying, "Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?"
And when the men had come to him, they said, "John the Baptist has sent us to you, saying, 'Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?'"
And Pilate asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?" And he answered him, "You have said so."
And Pilate asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?" And he answered him, "You have said so."
Then Pilate said to him, "So you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world--to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice."
But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest said to him, "I adjure you by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God."
But he remained silent and made no answer. Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?"
"If you are the Christ, tell us." But he said to them, "If I tell you, you will not believe,
And all the people were amazed, and said, "Can this be the Son of David?"
So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, "How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly."
So they all said, "Are you the Son of God, then?" And he said to them, "You say that I am."
And the tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread."
and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, "'He will command his angels concerning you,'and "'On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.'"
and saying, "You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross."
The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread."
And he took him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here,
inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories.
