He cometh therefore to Simon Peter among the rest, who saith unto Him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou dost not now understand, but thou shalt know hereafter. Peter saith to Him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I do not wash thee, thou hast no part with me.

And the scribes and pharisees, when they saw Him eating with publicans and sinners, said to his disciples, What is the meaning that He eateth with publicans and sinners? Which Jesus hearing, saith unto them, They that are in health have no need of a physician, but they that are ill: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.

And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on Him; for they said He spends Himself too much.

And he said unto them, Ye know how unlawful it is for a man that is a Jew, to associate with or go to the house of one of another nation: but God hath shewn me, that I should not call any man polluted or unclean. And therefore I came to you, when I was sent for, without demur. I ask therefore on what account ye sent for me.

And the king was exceedingly grieved, but on account of his oath, and those who were at table with him, he would not refuse her: but immediately sent one of his guard, and ordered his head to be brought:
